The Adamawa State Police Command has foiled a kidnapping attempt in Song Local Government Area and killed a suspect.
This resulted from a series of operations based on intelligence reports which prompted investigation of cases involving alleged rape, defilement, culpable homicide and armed robbery across the state.
The Command disclosed this during a press briefing addressed by its Public Relations Officer, CSP Suleiman Nguroje, who said the attempted kidnapping occurred in the early hours of October 29, 2026, at about 4.30 am, when five suspected kidnappers invaded the residence of one Alhaji Musa in Dadin Kowa village of Song LGA, in an alleged attempt to abduct him.
"Following an alarm raised by residents, police operatives, working alongside local hunters, swiftly responded to the scene," Nguroje explained, adding that in the process, one of the suspected kidnappers was gunned down while the other suspects escaped.
Nguroje said the police operatives recovered one AK-47 rifle and 10 expended ammunition shells from the scene, assuring that operatives have launched a manhunt to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
Nguroje disclosed another instance of the arrest of a 67-year-old man, Aliyu Bakari, over alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl.
According to the police spokesman, the suspect has admitted to having sexual intercourse with the minor on three occasions.
Among suspects paraded during the press briefing were a woman and her son who allegedly killed a woman that they accused of witchcraft.
Nguroje told the newsmen at the briefing that the woman told investigators that she attacked the deceased on the conviction that the deceased cast a spell on her, causing her personal misfortunes.
The police image maker assured that the cases were being thoroughly investigated to determine their validity and to take legal steps that may become necessary.
