The Anambra State Police Command has rescued a 10-year-old boy, identified as Chinecherem Onuwasoanya, who was found wandering in Okpoko, Ogbaru Local Government Area, after losing his way home.

The boy, who said he is from Ebenebe community in Anambra State, was rescued by operatives of the Okpoko Police Division on the afternoon of Sunday, November 1, 2026.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Tochukwu Ikenga, said in a statement that the boy had gone out to play but could not find his way back home or locate his family members.

He said a concerned resident who found the child wandering took him to the Okpoko Police Division for assistance.

The police said efforts had begun to contact the boy’s parents or guardians and reunite him with his family.

The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, Nnanna Oji Ama, commended the Good Samaritan for bringing the child to the police station and urged residents to remain alert and support efforts to protect children and other vulnerable persons.

The police commissioner also advised parents and guardians to provide adequate supervision for their children and take precautions to ensure they can be identified and traced if separated from their families.

The police appealed to the public, asking anyone with information that could help locate Chinecherem’s parents or guardians to contact the Okpoko Police Division or the Anambra State Police Command.
