Police Sub-Inspector Malang Jammeh is being investigated over allegations of sexual misconduct against a female junior police officer.
According to the police spokesperson ASP Modou Musa Sisawo, the investigation is being conducted by the force’s Human Rights and Professional Standards Unit (HRPSU) and comes after a Gambian based in the United Kingdom filed a formal complaint accusing SI Jammeh of engaging in sexual misconduct. Jammeh is accused of indulging in sexual affairs with the then wife of the complainant, first class policewoman at the Police Training School.
According to the spokesperson, the matter is currently under review at the HRPSU and that the accused officer has not been interdicted and is on active duty.
Ensa AB Ceesay, a Gambian based in the United States who broke the story on the social media, reported that SI Jammeh’s peccadillos with the policewoman led to the collapse of her marriage with her UK-based husband. He stated that the couple got married in March 2026 and since then, SI Jammeh has allegedly coercing her to leave her husband for him.
Ceesay charged that SI Jammeh’s actions constituted a violation of the Police Act and Police Code of Conduct stating that all the evidences in the form of audio, text, and video messages have been shared with the police command to help them in their investigations.
Ceesay called for SI Jammeh’s immediate dismissal for causing “utter embarrassment” to the police by engaging in indecent conduct with a subordinate at the Police Training School.
