
Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a suspected kidnapper and rescued a victim in Isua Akoko area of the state.
DAILY POST learnt that the victim, alongside one other, had gone to Ipesi Akoko for cattle rearing, but failed to return home.
The command’s spokesperson, Abayomi Jimoh, in a statement made available to newsmen on Tuesday, stated that the victim was rescued following a coordinated intelligence-driven operation.
According to Jimoh, the victim described how he was kidnapped at night by three suspected kidnappers and injured one of them in the head while attempting to fight back.
“Acting swiftly on credible information obtained from the victim, operatives of the Isua division mobilized and stormed Obasanjo Motor Park, Isua, at about 6:09 a.m, where a suspicious individual with a visible head injury was apprehended
“During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being part of the kidnapping gang. The victim later positively identified the suspect, particularly noting the injury inflicted on him,” the statement added.
The PPRO stated that the victim was taken to the hospital for medical attention, while the suspect has been transferred to the anti-kidnapping unit for further investigation and likely prosecution.
The command reiterated its unwavering commitment to tackling kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state, urging residents to remain vigilant and continue to support the police with timely and useful information.
