Daily Post about 4 hours 2 mins read

Abia State Police Command says it has rescued an 18-year-old kidnap victim, Ifeoma Obinna, from kidnappers in Umuimo community, Osisioma Ngwa Local Government Area of Abia State.

The command also announced the arrest of three suspects, Chidozie Rainbow Hezekiah, Brave Rainbow and Innocent Otodirichu, in connection with the crime.

A press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, of the Abia State Police Command, DSP Maureen Chinaka, confirmed the rescue and the arrests, adding that two daggers and the victim’s mobile phone were recovered from the suspects.

DSP Chinaka explained that a distress call was received by the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit on October 4, 2026.

According to her, it was reported that an unidentified person had called the victim’s mother, Mrs. Obinna, and demanded a ransom of N5 million to secure the release of her missing daughter.

She said, leveraging on actionable intelligence, the suspects were apprehended by the anti-kidnapping unit, Abia State Command, in Umuimo community, Osisioma Ngwa.

The command said the victim was successfully rescued and the suspects apprehended, adding that efforts were ongoing to arrest other members of the criminal gang.

“The Commissioner of Police, Abia State Command, CP Wilfred Olutokunbo Afolabi, reiterates the command’s commitment to combating kidnapping and other forms of criminality in the state,” the press statement noted.
