Portugal legend, Antonio Simões, has mocked Cristiano Ronaldo after the Al-Nassr forward recently released a statement detailing why he left Portugal’s UEFA Nations League training camp on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.
Speaking to A Bola (as per GOAL), Simões also accused Ronaldo of
being selfish as he seeks to become the first player in football’s history to score 1000 times for club and country.
Ronaldo is 21 goals away from reaching the 1000 career goals, which he could accomplish sometime next year.
“Sometimes we feel that he is only thinking about himself,” Simões said of Ronaldo.
“After scoring 1,000 goals, Cristiano Ronaldo will keep playing with the national team until the age of 49.”
