Portugal: ‘I disliked it’ – Al-Nassr boss, Postecoglou on Ronaldo, Jesus feud

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Al-Nassr manager, Ange Postecoglou, has said that he does not like speaking about issues surrounding national teams.

The manager said this when asked to speak about the ongoing face-off involving Cristiano Ronaldo and the Portuguese national team.

Postecoglou emphasised that he prefers not to address matters that fall under another coach’s purview.

Recall that Ronaldo recently became the subject of significant media attention following his notable disagreement with Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus during the international break.

Postecoglou was questioned regarding this matter during a press conference ahead of Al-Nassr’s upcoming match against Al-Diriyah in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.

The manager declined to offer commentary on the subject, clarifying that his attention is directed exclusively toward the experienced forward’s physical and mental state following his return to club competition.

“Ronaldo has returned in good condition,” said the Al-Nassr head coach in quotes conveyed by Al-Riyadh newspaper on X (formerly Twitter). “He is mentally and physically ready, and that’s the most important thing.”

“As for the national team and his incident, I used to coach national teams, and I disliked club coaches commenting on national team events,” he added

Following the end of the international break, Ronaldo has returned to Al-Nassr and is anticipated to participate in Friday’s league encounter against Al-Diriyah.

The Portuguese forward will be seeking to move past the Portugal controversy and redirect his efforts toward assisting the club in advancing their objectives for domestic and continental achievement during the current season.

The defending champions presently hold third place in the Saudi Pro League standings with 16 points from seven matches—two points adrift of first-place Al Hilal and one point behind second-place Al Ittihad. Postecoglou’s squad has achieved five victories, one draw, and one loss thus far.
