But resilience should never mean suffering in silence,” she said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Disu noted that the association is increasingly shifting its focus towards practical interventions designed to address the everyday needs of police families, with programmes centred on healthcare, mental wellness, education, economic empowerment, and support for widows and children.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Highlighting some of the interventions already undertaken, she disclosed that recent healthcare initiatives in Abuja provided free medical consultations, eye screenings and corrective eyeglasses to more than 1,000 beneficiaries.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>She added that the POWA CARES Initiative in Lagos combined healthcare services with scholarships, economic empowerment programmes and direct family support, reflecting the association’s determination to improve the quality of life of police families.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The POWA president said engagements with women in police barracks and markets provided deeper insight into the realities many families face, particularly the difficulty of accessing capital and building sustainable livelihoods.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Those interactions, she explained, reinforced the need for programmes that respond directly to the concerns expressed by police wives rather than assumptions about what they require.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Sometimes, the greatest act of leadership is not speaking; it is listening,” she said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>She noted that listening to women across the police community has strengthened POWA’s resolve to develop initiatives that deliver meaningful and lasting impact.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Disu argued that empowering women within police families goes beyond improving household incomes, saying it also contributes to stronger families, a more resilient Nigeria Police Force and better national security secondment to the Federal Ministry of Works, died on June 27, 2026, in a staff residential building located within Umahi’s residence in Uburu, Ohaozara Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The lawyers explained that the deceased did not reside in the same building as the minister. \u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>They said the building was designated for members of Umahi’s staff and other personnel working with him.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>They further stated that on the night of her death, only Habila and another female occupant, identified as a physiotherapist, were in the building.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The legal team urged the police to ensure that a comprehensive autopsy is conducted by qualified forensic pathologists to scientifically determine the actual cause and circumstances of Habila’s death.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>They also requested that Habila’s remains should not be released to anyone, including her next of kin, until the autopsy and all other relevant investigative procedures have been completed.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>According to the lawyers, the request is aimed at preserving the integrity of the ongoing investigation, eliminating speculation, and ensuring that the true cause of Habila’s death is conclusively established before her burial.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cfigure I personally accompanied them there on the afternoon of 15th July 2026, at about 1:00 p.m,” Mark wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>“It was a very long day. They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, 16th July 2026.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>In a statement on Thursday, Inibehe Effiong, human rights lawyer, said Akah and Precious were invited over allegations of naira abuse.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Effiong said his clients told EFCC investigators that the naira notes being referenced were “props money for entertainment”.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>“We arrived the Commission with Peter for Nigeria and Mama Pee on Wednesday and met with the investigators,” Effiong said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>“After cooperating with the Commission, our clients were released and we departed the EFCC’s Headquarters.
