Power Oil’s WalkHeartOn has marked its 10th anniversary with thousands of Nigerians participating in the annual heart-health initiative created in celebration of World Heart Day.

The event, held on October 1, 2026, at The Stables Sports Ground, Surulere, Lagos, recorded 25,536 registrations, while 11,896 people physically attended.

WalkHeartOn was established to encourage Nigerians to stay active and pay greater attention to heart health. Over the past decade, the initiative has expanded to incorporate fitness, wellness, entertainment and community activities.

The 10th edition featured fitness sessions, health checks, games, refreshments, music and entertainment, providing participants with an opportunity to combine physical activity with social interaction. Families, friends, colleagues and fitness enthusiasts were among those who attended the event.

Power Oil has continued to use WalkHeartOn as part of its commitment to encouraging healthier lifestyles and raising awareness around heart health. The 10th anniversary comes as a significant milestone for an initiative that has brought together Nigerians across multiple editions.

Commenting on the milestone, Roland Akpe, Marketing Manager, Oils and Fats Portfolio at Tolaram, said, “For the past decade, WalkHeartOn has been an important part of Power Oil’s commitment to promoting healthier hearts and active living among Nigerians. We believe that heart health requires a holistic approach that goes beyond healthy eating to include regular movement and healthier lifestyle choices. As we mark 10 years of WalkHeartOn in celebration of World Heart Day, we remain committed to creating initiatives that inspire Nigerians to take action for their hearts and make healthier living part of their everyday lives.”

With the number of registrations and physical attendance, WalkHeartOn 10.0 added another significant chapter to the initiative’s decade-long journey. As the initiative looks towards the future, its central message remains unchanged: every step towards a healthier lifestyle is a step worth taking.
