Super Eagles striker, Taiwo Awoniyi, could be banned for three matches by the Premier League.
This follows his straight red card in Coventry’s 5-0 defeat to Brighton on Sunday.
Awoniyi was sent off in the 53rd minute of the fixture at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The Nigeria international caught Brighton’s Maxim De Cuyper with his elbow during an aerial challenge.
The decision was reviewed by VAR and the dismissal stood.
Awoniyi only joined Frank Lampard’s side from Nottingham Forest this summer.
So far, he has made three league appearances, without scoring in 181 minutes.
It is Awoniyi’s first Premier League dismissal as the Nigerian striker’s disciplinary record in the English top-tier had been clean before Sunday.
