Premier Plantations Limited, a subsidiary of Nosak Group, in collaboration with the African Cataract & Eye Foundation, has successfully concluded the second edition of its three-day Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, providing free eye care services to more than 150 residents of the Irrua-Usugbenu community in Esan Central Local Government Area of Edo State.
The initiative featured more than 25 free cataract surgeries, helping beneficiaries regain their sight and improve their quality of life.
In addition, free reading glasses were distributed to individuals with visual impairments, while community members received a range of eye care consultations and treatments. As part of the broader health intervention, children also received free deworming medication.
Speaking on behalf of Nosak Group, the Project Manager of Premier Plantations Limited, Mr. Boniface Iyengunmwena, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of its host communities through impactful healthcare and development initiatives.
“This initiative is designed to improve the quality of life of people within our host communities by restoring sight through free cataract surgeries and the provision of reading glasses. Through our partnership with the African Cataract & Eye Foundation, we are contributing to the prevention of avoidable blindness and other eye-related conditions, while bringing hope and renewed confidence to beneficiaries,” he said.
Also speaking, the Founder and Director of the African Cataract & Eye Foundation, Dr. Gabriel Okorodudu, expressed appreciation for the partnership and its life-changing impact on beneficiaries.
“When you restore a person’s sight, you give them a new opportunity to experience life. It is a transformative gift that restores hope, independence, and dignity. We are delighted to partner with Premier Plantations in making this possible for members of the community,” he stated.
