His Excellency the President of the Republic of Uganda, Gen. (Rtd.) Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, congratulated Mr. Don Vincent Bwana, Head of Protocol at the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Secretariat, and his wife, Mrs. Beatrice Ayinkamiye, upon their marriage, urging them to build a strong family founded on love, mutual respect, trust and shared responsibility.
The President’s message was delivered by the Minister for the Presidency and Member of Parliament for Budiope West Constituency, Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda, who represented him at the couple’s wedding ceremony, yesterday, October 30th.
On behalf of President Museveni, the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, the Permanent Secretary in the Office of the President, Hajji Yunus Kakande, and the entire staff of the Office of the President, Minister Babalanda conveyed warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the newlyweds.
In his message, President Museveni expressed appreciation to the couple for inviting him to share in their special occasion. He congratulated them, affectionately referring to them as his bazzukulu, for making the important decision to enter into holy matrimony while still young and energetic.
The President observed that marriage is an important milestone that demonstrates maturity, focus and readiness to embrace responsibility, describing it as one of the cherished aspirations parents have for their children.
“This is a sign of focus and readiness to take up responsibility, which is a yearning of parents for their children. The choice you have made is between you and God, and before all of us. We believe that you will make it work and that it will yield fruits in the years to come,” President Museveni said.
He emphasised that a successful marriage requires mutual commitment, trust, understanding and shared responsibility, urging the couple to support one another as they establish their home and raise responsible children who will contribute positively to the country’s future.
President Museveni further encouraged the newlyweds to uphold the good values instilled in them by their respective families, education and the institutions that have shaped their lives, expressing confidence that they would become responsible and exemplary members of society.
The President also recognised and commended Mr. Bwana for his contribution to national development through his service at the NRM Secretariat, where he serves as Head of Protocol.
He applauded his hard work, loyalty, diligence and unwavering patriotism, appreciating his commitment to the country and expressing confidence that he would continue serving with dedication while achieving even greater success in the years ahead.
Recognising the importance of having a supportive partner in marriage, President Museveni noted that the couple’s union should provide a strong foundation for their personal, professional and family development, particularly because both are serving in government institutions.
“Since you have now got a pillar of support as your wife, and since both of you are serving in government offices, I trust that this union will help you excel to greater heights in life, nurture responsible children of this nation and become an example to other people, especially the youth,” he said.
He encouraged them to strike a healthy balance between their responsibilities to the country and their family aspirations, while remaining committed to building a prosperous future.
The President also challenged the couple to embrace and promote the NRM’s message of hard work and the principle of “No More Sleep” within their respective communities, reminding them that as members and ambassadors of the Movement, their conduct, commitment and achievements should inspire others, particularly young people.
He urged them to champion productive work, personal responsibility and wealth creation as part of the broader national effort to eradicate household poverty and improve the livelihoods of Ugandans.
President Museveni also extended special appreciation to the parents of the newlyweds for their guidance, sacrifice and contribution towards nurturing their children into responsible adults.
In particular, he paid tribute to the late Bwana Yeko, whom he described as his friend, acknowledging the parental values and guidance that had prepared the family for this important milestone.
As a special gesture of support towards the development of the couple’s marriage, President Museveni contributed cows worth UGX 10 million.
The President concluded his message by praying for God’s blessings upon the marriage, asking the Almighty to guide the couple as they embark on their new journey, build their home and pursue their shared aspirations. “May God bless your marriage,” he wished them.
Meanwhile, Minister Babalanda also congratulated Mr. Bwana and Mrs. Beatrice upon their marriage, wishing them a lifetime of love, companionship, mutual respect and God’s abundant blessings.
She called upon the couple to cherish one another, remain steadfast in their commitment and build a home founded on faith, understanding, responsibility and shared purpose.
Drawing inspiration from Proverbs 18:22, which states, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing, and obtains favour from the Lord,” the Minister prayed that the Almighty God would strengthen their bond, guide their decisions and bless their home with lasting peace, happiness and prosperity.
She wished the newlyweds a fulfilling marriage and success in their respective professional responsibilities and family life.
The ceremony brought together religious leaders, PS Robert Kayanja, Ambassador Hon. Barbara Nekesa, NRM Treasurer; Hon. Naigaga, Hon. Kawalya, Hon. Veronica Kadogo of EALA; Hon. Gabriel, former MP for Arua, Hon. Jackson Ntwatwa; Hon. Dr. Rosemary Sseninde; Hon.
