Primaries: Revised NASS list could return APC to past troubles – Obun

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, Cletus Obun, says the revised list of National Assembly candidates could return the party to its past troubles.

Obun issued the warning on Thursday in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Morning Show’.

According to him, APC cannot afford to repeat its mistakes, adding that the party must go back, exercise due diligence and present only candidates who actually participated in and won the primaries.

Recall that the APC National Working Committee, NWC, dropped former Benue State Governor, Gabriel Suswam, and five other senatorial hopefuls from the party’s final list of candidates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Speaking on the matter, Obun said, “Revised National Assembly list could return the APC to its past troubles.

“If any APC member seeks to sabotage the party through subterfuge by importing candidates, that individual will be treated as a saboteur.

“What INEC is doing with the APC right now is sanitising the process. There is growing anger between the APC’s foundational members and new entrants.

“We are taking past errors for granted simply because the party has 31 governors. Those governors could become a time bomb for the party if this issue is not addressed.”
