One year, three people and a very cute birthday boy! Priscilla Ojo and Juma Jux are celebrating their son Rakeem’s first birthday, and the family came dressed for the occasion. For his big day, the couple stepped in front of the camera with their little boy in coordinated looks that bring together bold colours, traditional details and plenty of personality.

Priscilla shared the beautiful portraits with a sweet reflection on just how much life has changed since welcoming their son. “A year ago our family of two became three. 365 days later, our little one…” she wrote, marking the milestone with a glimpse into this special chapter for their family.

And if you were wondering what they wore for Rakeem’s first birthday, the answer is: a lot of colour, beads and beautiful traditional details.

Priscilla Ojo, Juma Jux, and baby Rakeem share a moment during his first birthday photoshoot.

Styled by Emmanuel Goodews Icon, Priscilla wore a floor-length strapless gown by Lasosa by Pam Pam, featuring a sweetheart neckline and a fitted column silhouette. The front of the dress is covered in colourful geometric beadwork in emerald green, sapphire blue, mustard yellow, black and white, while a long emerald-green cape falls from her shoulders and trails behind her.

She completed the look with a tall cobalt-blue velvet gelè-style headpiece, a multi-cowrie shell necklace, matching cowrie bracelets and a green drop earring. Her beauty look stayed warm and understated, with defined brows, earth-toned eyeshadow, soft blush and a glossy nude lip.

Juma Jux, meanwhile, coordinated with his son in a P.Aries black tunic featuring wide three-quarter sleeves, a high Mandarin collar and bright teal, emerald-green and black geometric panels across the chest and sleeves. Metallic beaded trim runs around the neckline, while his matching filà-style cap carries the same pattern.

And then there is little Rakeem, who gets his very own mini version of Dad’s outfit. His short-sleeved black tunic features the same teal and green geometric panels, complete with a matching cap and tiny black dress shoes.

It is quite the way to mark one year.

Rakeem was born on 24 August 2025, meaning Priscilla and Juma are celebrating his first birthday today. His arrival came a few months after the couple got married, following their series of wedding celebrations in Nigeria and Tanzania in 2025.

The couple announced their pregnancy in July 2025 before welcoming their son in Canada the following month. Rakeem is their first child together, making today’s celebration an especially meaningful milestone for the family.

And judging by these portraits, Mum, Dad and their one-year-old have found a pretty good way to celebrate it.
