Rangers International have suffered a heartbreaking exit from the CAF Champions League after losing 3-0 to MC Alger in the second leg of their second preliminary round encounter.
The Algerian side overturned a two-goal deficit from the first leg to secure a 3-2 aggregate victory and progress to the group stage.
Rangers began the encounter on a determined note, with goalkeeper Destiny Abuchi producing a series of important saves to frustrate the hosts in the first half.
MC Alger eventually broke the deadlock two minutes before the hour mark through Chahreddine Boukholda, raising hopes of a comeback.
Abuchi appeared to have kept Rangers in control of the tie when he saved Mohamed Bangoura’s penalty in the 70th minute, preserving the visitors’ aggregate advantage.
However, Bangoura redeemed himself six minutes from time with a well-taken goal to draw MC Alger level on aggregate.
The hosts completed their remarkable turnaround in stoppage time, with Soufiane Bayazid finding the net to seal a 3-0 win and condemn Rangers to elimination.
