Regina Daniels marks 25th birthday in wheelchair

Nollywood actress Regina Daniels has disclosed that she has endured months of severe pain and difficulty walking, revealing that her condition has left her dependent on a wheelchair.

The actress shared the update in a video posted on her Instagram page on Saturday to celebrate her 25th birthday, using the opportunity to explain her absence from social media.

Daniels, a mother of two, said what initially appeared to be a minor health problem gradually worsened, leaving her unable to move freely and sometimes preventing her from walking.

“I know many of you may be surprised seeing me in a wheelchair. Well, welcome to another chapter of my life. Let me walk you through what my life has been since many of you have asked questions about my absence,” she said.

Recounting how her condition deteriorated, Daniels said she began experiencing more serious symptoms after hosting a children’s day carnival.

“For several months now, I have lost my freedom to move around as I please. It started as something minor, very minor, but eventually led to this.

“But things took a major turn after the last public gathering I hosted, my children’s day carnival. One test after another, I jokingly started calling myself a lab rat. The pain became excruciating. Sometimes I can walk, and sometimes I can’t move. I cried,” she added.

The actress expressed gratitude for the progress she said she had made in her recovery, noting that recent developments had encouraged her to speak publicly about her health.

“Well, me sitting here today, in front of this camera, sharing this with y’all, it’s because there’s been some really significant developments in my recovery. And I say, thank you, Lord,” she said.

Daniels also described the emotional difficulties associated with her condition, particularly having to rely on others for assistance with routine activities.

Despite the challenges, she said her faith in God had helped her through the experience and expressed hope for healing and peace.

The actress further disclosed that she had moved closer to her loved ones, especially her children, whom she described as being particularly dear to her.

She said she initially rented the property she moved into but later developed an interest in owning it.

Daniels married businessman and politician Ned Nwoko in 2019, and the couple have two children. Their relationship has since been marked by a public and contentious separation.
