I personally accompanied them there on the afternoon of 15th July 2026, at about 1:00 p.m,” Mark wrote.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>“It was a very long day. They were eventually released at around 12:00 a.m. and were asked to return the following day, 16th July 2026.”\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>In a statement on Thursday, Inibehe Effiong, human rights lawyer, said Akah and Precious were invited over allegations of naira abuse.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>Effiong said his clients told EFCC investigators that the naira notes being referenced were “props money for entertainment”.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>“We arrived the Commission with Peter for Nigeria and Mama Pee on Wednesday and met with the investigators,” Effiong said.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\u003Cp>“After cooperating with the Commission, our clients were released and we departed the EFCC’s Headquarters. Abimbola Adebisi, on Thursday, the grim discovery was made following a distress call that prompted an immediate response from law enforcement. \u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The command received information on July 14, 2026, at about 11:45 a.m. that the suspect had allegedly killed the woman and was attempting to dispose of her body in a canal along Monastery Road, Mopo, Ajah.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The Divisional Police Officer (DPO) immediately led a team of operatives to the scene, where the suspect, who had already been apprehended by security guards in the area, was taken into Police custody.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The victim, a young woman who operated a POS business, was reportedly subjected to a heinous sexual assault before being killed. Her body was recovered from the canal near the Shoprite complex in Sangotedo and has since been transported to the General Hospital Mortuary in Yaba.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“The body of the deceased was evacuated to the General Hospital Mortuary, Yaba, for preservation and autopsy. Fanwo described the rescue as the outcome of a coordinated security operation […]\nAbducted Kogi NECO students, others rescued","\n\u003Cp>\u003Cbr>The Kogi State Government has announced the rescue of the four persons kidnapped during the recent attack in Olowa, Dekina Local Government Area of the State.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, made this announcement in a statement on Thursday.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>Fanwo described the rescue as the outcome of a coordinated security operation ordered by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo immediately after the incident.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>He said Governor Ododo ordered the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, rtd, to coordinate a joint rescue mission involving the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services, DSS, the Nigeria Police Force, local vigilante groups and other security operatives.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Shortly after the kidnapping incident, the Governor directed the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, rtd, to coordinate the rescue operation. The State Security Adviser and the leadership of the 12 Brigade and the 21 Battalion of the Nigerian Army, the DSS, the Police and local security operatives stormed the forest to ensure the victims were rescued.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Just this evening, while inspecting the Armoured Personnel Carriers procured by the Kogi State Government to strengthen the fight against criminality, the Governor assured newsmen that every effort was being made to secure the release of the victims.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“A few hours later, the victims regained their freedom. The sustained pressure on the kidnappers and the saturation of the forest by heavily armed security personnel forced the criminals to abandon the victims and flee.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“Security operatives remain in the forest and the operation is still ongoing. We are determined to ensure that none of the criminals escapes justice. Our resolve is clear: anyone who chooses the path of crime in Kogi State will face the full weight of the law.\u003C\u002Fp>\n\n\n\n\u003Cp>“We can confirm that the School Principal, the NECO official and the two students have all been rescued safely.
