The plight of the Kaduna man who was kidnapped alongside his wife and baby has continued to generate reactions from Nigerians, particularly residents of Kaduna State.
The senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Lawal Adamu Usman, has joined the calls for action, appealing to anyone with useful information that could help secure the family’s release to come forward.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to reporters in Kaduna on Monday, the senator raised the alarm over insecurity in the state, noting that the security of lives and property was of utmost importance. He also called on security agencies to intensify efforts to tackle bandits and other criminal elements across the state.
Reacting to a viral video showing the abducted young man, Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old baby, with their abductors demanding N300 million in ransom, Usman described the reported kidnapping in Millennium City, Kaduna State, as deeply disturbing.
He said the incident required urgent attention from all relevant security agencies and the Kaduna State Government to ensure the victims’ swift release.
Condemning the rising abduction of innocent people in the state, Usman urged the authorities to mobilise the necessary personnel, strengthen intelligence gathering, coordinate an effective rescue operation and do everything possible to bring the victims back to their families alive and unharmed.
The statement also appealed to residents of Millennium City and neighbouring communities to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies by providing credible information that could assist in the rescue operation.
