Segun Ogunwuyi, the Chief of Staff to Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, has resigned from the government.

Ogunwuyi, in his resignation letter dated October 12, 2026, said his resignation took effect from the date of the letter.

In the letter addressed to Governor Makinde, the former Chief of Staff said serving the government and people of the state had been a great honour.

“I respectfully write to resign my appointment as Chief of Staff to the Governor of Oyo State, with effect from today, 12th October, 2026.

“Serving the Government and the good people of Oyo State has been a great honour. It has been deeply fulfilling to be part of the exceptional team that has worked relentlessly to deliver the remarkable achievements of this administration.

“I remain immensely proud of what we have collectively accomplished in advancing the growth, development and prosperity of our dear State. As I take this decision, I do so with profound gratitude for the opportunity to serve, with confidence in the continued progress of Oyo State.

“Please accept, Your Excellency, the assurances of my highest esteem and unwavering loyalty to Oyo State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.

The former member of the Oyo State House of Assembly and House of Representatives has now joined the growing list of Makinde’s aides who have resigned this year.

Governor Makinde appointed Ogunwuyi as his chief of staff in July 2021. Two years before then, he was the Executive Assistant to the Governor on Investment.

Ogunwuyi was later appointed Director-General of the Oyo State Investment and Public-Private Partnership Agency (OYSIPPPA), following the passage of the law setting up the agency.

The former chief of staff was elected as the member representing Ogbomoso North/South and Oriire Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in 2015.

Ogunwuyi has a B.Sc. degree in Accounting and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun State.
