Young Nigerian artiste Shalom Terem, popularly known as Shamzydane, has released a new single titled Alone, marking another step in his emerging music career.

Released on August 20, 2026, the song blends Afrobeat with Afro-Soul and Afro-Swing, with Shamzydane using introspective lyrics to reflect on his personal experiences, emotions and the pressures surrounding his current phase of life.

According to the 22-year-old artiste, Alone offers listeners a reflective experience while telling a story drawn from his own journey.

“Alone puts someone in a solemn type of vibe. A listener goes into meditation because of the deep lyrics. It is all about my lifestyle, my experiences and my general feelings,” he said.

Explaining the inspiration behind the song, Shamzydane said it focuses on his efforts to understand himself and navigate the challenges that come with moving forward.

“It is basically talking about my phase of life, the pressure coming as a result of what is happening to me in my current state. It is all about my being. It is trying to figure out myself as I move forward and explaining that I am trying to do my best and move ahead,” he said.

The release follows Shamzydane’s earlier appearance on Loba Tan, a track by US-based artiste Tomi Tribe. The Yoruba title, which translates to “finished” or “that is the end”, is an upbeat Afrobeat and party song.

Shamzydane’s interest in music dates back to his childhood, with the artiste saying his experiences in church and school played a major role in shaping his musical aspirations.

“I started music in church and school as well. It shaped me so well, which gave me the inspiration embarking on this musical journey I am on right now,” he said.

He also cited listening to different artistes while growing up as an influence on his desire to develop a distinct musical identity.

Among the artistes he draws inspiration from are Nigerian stars Wizkid, Burna Boy and Davido, as well as Canadian rapper Drake.

Beyond music, Shamzydane said he hopes to contribute to a society that is united, progressive and committed to the wellbeing of its people.

The artiste, whose real name is Shalom Terem, also has an academic background in business management. He attended Immaculate Conception Minor Seminary, Mfamosing, Cross River State, before proceeding to the University of Calabar, where he graduated with a Second Class Upper Division degree in Business Management in 2025.

Alone is currently available on major digital music platforms, including Spotify, YouTube Music, Apple Music, Audiomack, Boomplay and iTunes.
