JOS — Vice President Kashim Shettima on Friday visited the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) for an on-the-spot assessment of the institution’s operations, facilities and ongoing strategic programmes following the recent attack by gunmen.

The Vice President, accompanied by Caleb Mutfwang and other senior government officials, was received by the Director-General of NIPSS, Professor Ayo Omotayo, alongside members of the institute’s management team.

The visit comes days after armed men attacked the institute, killing three persons and triggering concerns over security around the nation’s foremost policy and strategic studies centre.

Security agencies have since arrested some suspects in connection with the attack, while security measures have been strengthened within and around the institution to prevent a recurrence.

Shettima’s visit is seen as part of the Federal Government’s efforts to assess the situation firsthand, reassure stakeholders and support measures aimed at enhancing security at the institute.

Authorities have continued investigations into the attack as efforts intensify to bring all those responsible to justice.
