Operatives of the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation and Safety Corps, So-Safe Corps, have arrested a 50-year-old man, Kazeem Adeoye, for allegedly assaulting a 44-year-old woman, Oladeyinde Morufat, and her daughter, Mariam, in the Ifo Local Government Area of Ogun State.
According to a statement by the Corps Commander, Soji Ganzallo, through the Director of Information, Adegunwa Adegbuyi, the incident occurred at Shonde, Iyana-Ifote, Lisa, on Sunday at about 4:45 p.m.
Morufat reported that she was returning from church with her children when an altercation broke out between her children and the suspect’s sons, Abdullah and Ope, who were riding a motorcycle.
She alleged that Adeoye later entered her compound without permission and verbally abused her family, while his wife allegedly hit her on the head with a wooden stick, causing her to bleed.
She further alleged that her daughter, Mariam, sustained a laceration on her forehead during the confrontation.
The Divisional Officer, SC Innocent Matthew, was said to have directed officers to apprehend the suspect.
During interrogation, Adeoye reportedly admitted entering the compound, claiming that he only went to warn the family after his children complained that the woman’s children had obstructed their path.
He reportedly admitted that both the woman and her daughter sustained injuries.
The victims were taken to the Government Health Centre in Lisa for treatment, while the suspect was detained.
The Corps Commander disclosed that the case was transferred to the Ifo Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Monday for further investigation and possible prosecution.
He urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully and report cases of violence promptly, while emphasising the importance of protecting children and ensuring that allegations of violence are thoroughly investigated by the relevant authorities.
