The Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has approved the appointment of eight new district heads to fill vacant traditional positions across the state.
The appointments, according to a statement signed by the Secretary of the Sultanate Council, Sokoto, Sa’idu Maccido, were made following recommendations by the council.
Those appointed are Salihu Kadadi as Sarkin Arewan Kadadi; Isah Gidan Madi as Ausan Gidan Madi; and Gidado Dabagi as Sarkin Gabas Dabagin Ardo.
Others are Hayatu Dallatu as Uban Kasar Tudun Wada; Abdullahi Muhammed Danchadi as Sarkin Zamfaran Danchadi; Umar Shehu Goronyo as Sarkin Gabas Goronyo; Kabiru Marafa as Ajiyan Tsaki; and Muhammadu Buhari as Ardon Wajake.
The statement added that the formal turbaning ceremony for the new traditional rulers would be performed by the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, at a later date.
“The Sultan of Sokoto and the Sultanate Council congratulate the appointees for the well-deserved appointment and wish them a successful future and God’s guidance,” the statement said.
The council urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them and contribute to the peace and development of their respective communities.
