Somalia: Baidoa fighting kills three, leaves 69 wounded, MSF says

The clashes erupted on Monday, Sept. 28, marking the third outbreak of fighting in the town since Aug. 17. MSF said a health facility was severely damaged, a healthcare worker was killed and an ambulance was looted. Roads to hospitals have been blocked since the fighting began, limiting access to medical care. MSF said only a small number of wounded people have reached Bay Regional Hospital, where it works with Somalia's Ministry of Health. "This is the third time in six weeks that fighting has erupted in Baidoa, with devastating consequences for civilians," said MSF Somalia representative Dr. Elshafie Mohammed. MSF called on all parties to protect civilians, patients, healthcare workers and medical facilities and ensure safe, unimpeded access to healthcare.
