In a statement, Mr. Khaire said the operation was carried out by forces under the current administration during preparations for a planned peaceful demonstration scheduled for the following day. The former prime minister expressed condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery to those injured, noting that the government would bear responsibility for any casualties resulting from the incident. Meanwhile, convoys of armed government vehicles were observed along Maka Al-Mukarama Street in Mogadishu. Authorities have not announced the purpose of the deployment, and it remains unclear whether the forces are preparing for additional operations or relocating to other areas of the capital. Residents have continued to leave Mogadishu's Howl-Wadaag District amid ongoing security concerns. The movement of civilians has reportedly continued into the night as some residents seek safer locations while the situation remains uncertain. In a joint statement on Monday, representatives of Austria, Belgium, the European Union Delegation, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and the United Nations Transitional Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS) expressed concern over the current situation in Somalia. The signatories called on all parties to resume dialogue as soon as possible and to reach consensus on an electoral roadmap in the interest of the Somali people. They also stated that the international community stands ready to support Somali-led talks if requested. The statement urged Somali leaders to prioritize the national interest and avoid actions that could increase tensions. Separately, the United States called on all stakeholders to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that could contribute to violence or instability. It encouraged all parties to engage in dialogue and cooperation in support of peace and stability across Somalia. Further developments are expected as the situation continues to unfold.
