SONABEL sets August 28 for spillage of Bagre Dam

Burkina Faso rsquo;s National Electricity Company (SONABEL), manager of the Bagre Dam, has announced that the controlled spillage of excess water will begin on Friday, August 28, 2026, at 9:00 a. m. In a notice issued on August 27, SONABEL explained that recent heavy rainfall has pushed the reservoir rsquo;s water level to a critical point, making the evacuation of excess water necessary to protect the dam rsquo;s structural integrity.
