The South-East Youths Stakeholders Forum (SEYSF) has congratulated Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha and Minister of Works, David Umahi, on their appointments to strategic positions in the All Progressives Congress (APC) 2027 Presidential Campaign Council.

The forum described the appointments as recognition of the political experience, leadership capacity and national contributions of the four South-East leaders.

In a statement issued on Saturday by its Chairman, Mazi Dr Ezenwa A. A. Onyirimba, SEYSF said their inclusion in the campaign council presented an opportunity for the South-East to play a more prominent role in Nigeria’s political and developmental affairs.

The forum specifically commended the appointment of Mbah as Secretary, Uzodimma as Special Adviser, Okorocha as Deputy Director, South, and Umahi as Deputy Director, Infrastructure.

According to SEYSF, the responsibilities assigned to the four leaders demonstrate the confidence reposed in them by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership to deploy their experience and political networks towards the success of the party’s 2027 presidential campaign.

The forum said the appointments were significant not only to the individuals involved but also to the South-East, as the region’s representation in strategic positions within the presidential campaign structure could provide an avenue for its concerns, aspirations and development priorities to receive greater attention at the national level.

“We sincerely appreciate President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for recognising and finding our distinguished sons worthy of these important responsibilities. Their appointments are a positive development for the South-East and further demonstrate the importance of our region in the national political process,” the forum stated.

SEYSF expressed confidence that Mbah, Uzodimma, Okorocha and Umahi would bring their political experience, administrative competence and leadership networks to bear on their assignments and contribute to the success of the APC presidential campaign.

The forum also urged South-East youths and other stakeholders to take advantage of the emerging political engagement by participating actively and responsibly in the 2027 electoral process.

It reaffirmed its commitment to peaceful political participation, democratic engagement and constructive dialogue, saying it would mobilise young people and youth stakeholders across the five South-East states to participate in the political process.

According to the forum, such participation would enable South-East youths to pursue issues critical to the region, including greater political representation, infrastructure development, economic empowerment, employment opportunities, youth inclusion and stronger participation in national decision-making.

SEYSF maintained that the South-East must not remain on the margins of Nigeria’s political process, urging young people in the region to become active participants in shaping policies and decisions that affect their future.

“Active participation of South-East youths in the political process is essential to securing greater opportunities, representation, infrastructure development, economic empowerment and a stronger voice for our region in national affairs,” the statement added.

The forum urged the newly appointed campaign council members to use their positions to strengthen the relationship between the Federal Government and the South-East, while advancing initiatives that promote peace, development, investment and inclusion across the region.

SEYSF again congratulated Mbah, Uzodimma, Okorocha and Umahi, wishing them success in their respective assignments.
