Sowore accuses police of downplaying attack in Ekiti

Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

The presidential candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, Omoyele Sowore, has accused the Ekiti State Police Command of downplaying the attack on him and his team in Ado-Ekiti by describing the incident as a minor altercation.

Sowore made the accusation in a post on X, claiming that Commissioner of Police, CP Falade Adegoroye Michael, personally visited the scene and later saw the injuries sustained by members of his team.

He faulted the command’s description of the incident, insisting that they were victims of a violent attack rather than participants in an altercation.

“There was no altercation! We were attacked!” Sowore wrote.

He alleged that the commissioner was aware of the extent of their injuries but that the police command still described them as minor.

Sowore also said a video showed the commissioner leaving the emergency room after seeing the injuries sustained by his team.

He further referred to allegations of the commissioner’s involvement in the incident, describing the situation as “despicable”.
