Spain Lead FIFA World Cup Best XI As Cape Verde’s Vozinha Earns Place

 

Fresh from capturing the 2026 FIFA World Cup title, Spain have emerged as the most represented nation in FIFA’s official Team of the Tournament, with three players making the prestigious XI.

FIFA released the selection following the conclusion of the global showpiece staged across the United States, Canada and Mexico. The squad, arranged in a 4-3-3 formation, features standout performers from seven countries who left their mark on the competition.

World champions Spain contributed full-backs Marc Cucurella and Pedro Porro, alongside midfield general Rodri, whose commanding displays were instrumental in La Roja’s triumphant campaign.

France also produced three players in the team despite falling short of the final. Kylian Mbappé and Michael Olise earned places among the attacking trio, while Dayot Upamecano was selected in defence after a strong tournament at the heart of Les Bleus’ backline.

Argentina, runners-up to Spain in the final, saw two of their stars make the cut. Veteran captain Lionel Messi secured a place in attack after another influential World Cup campaign, while Lisandro Martínez was recognised for his defensive contributions.

England’s Jude Bellingham was included in midfield following a series of impressive performances, while Norway’s Erling Haaland earned selection as one of the tournament’s leading goalscorers.

Completing the team is Cape Verde goalkeeper Vozinha, whose remarkable performances between the posts made him one of the competition’s biggest surprises.
