Spain reveal Pino avoided fracture and retain World Cup hope for him and Williams

Spain issued a more positive update than expected on Yéremy Pino and Nico Williams on Saturday, describing their injuries as moderate. Pino had been expected to miss the rest of the World Cup and there were concerns they had lost Nico Williams too, as qualification for the last 32 came at a heavy price.

Spain said X-rays showed Pino had not sustained a fractured collar bone but an acromioclavicular sprain and that a tackle had left Williams with an adductor injury. A statement said the players’ availability would be determined by the rate of recovery.
