Stakeholders Urge Firms to Spend More in Brand Communication

In the midst of changing macro economic dynamics, communication stakeholders are calling on firms to spend more on communicating their brands to the public and their customers.

Speaking at a public speaking masterclass event in Lagos recently, Co-Convener, ,Eloquent Unfiltered, Akin Akingbogu, said there is a need for more organisations to invest in training their communication officers.

He explained that firms must see developing their PR department as an investment so that their brands can be better communicated to the public and their customers.

“Brand communication is very essential for the public or private sector. That’s why organisations invest in PRs and communication experts who help to manage their public images. And organisations are faced with the macro environment where a lot of things are changing so quickly, they need to react positively.

“They need to take authority and charge of situations that might not be exactly very pleasurable or pleasant to them. So basically, it means learning to speak and communicate properly not just to those companies, but even to people personally. The communicator needs to be able to understand and to ensure that it’s consistent with the values of their organisation and how they want the organisation to project itself in public,” he said.

He noted that public speaking lies between communicating ideas as inability to package them could be dangerous in the deal room for young entrepreneurs.
