KAMPALA, November 2026: Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited (SUHL) has won a Gold Accolade in the Titans Category at the 2026 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, recognising its sustained excellence in financial reporting.
The annual FiRe Awards, organised by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) and its partners, promote excellence in financial reporting, corporate governance and sustainability disclosure.
This year’s awards were held under the theme, “Driving Transparent Sustainability Reporting through Technology and Innovation.”
ICPAU President David Timothy Ediomu said the FiRe Awards, first introduced in 2011, have reached nearly 1,000 organisations through guidance on the application of international financial reporting standards and feedback aimed at improving the quality of annual reports.
Stanbic has been among the Awards’ most consistent performers, earning eight Gold accolades across various categories to date. According to ICPAU, organisations recognised as Titans form part of an exclusive legacy of institutions that have demonstrated sustained excellence and set a benchmark for others.
Mark Ocitti Ongom, Chief Executive of SUHL, said strong reporting was particularly important for a listed entity because of its role in strengthening stakeholder trust and confidence in the business.
“For a listed company, the quality and transparency of our reporting are fundamental to building stakeholder trust and confidence in the business. This recognition by the FiRe Awards affirms the exceptional work of our teams and the high standards we continue to set for our industry. We are honoured by the recognition and remain committed to reporting with the transparency, accountability and discipline our stakeholders expect.”
Ronald Makata, Chief Finance and Value Management Officer at SUHL, who leads the financial reporting team, said credible reporting is central to maintaining confidence among shareholders, regulators, investors and other stakeholders.
“Financial reporting is ultimately about trust. Our stakeholders must have confidence in the quality, integrity and transparency of the information we provide. This recognition reflects the discipline and technical excellence of the team behind our reporting and affirms our commitment to continuously raising the standard. We are proud to have our work recognised among the best.”
Speaking at the awards, Chief Guest George William Nyombi, Executive Director of the Uganda Communications Commission (UCC), highlighted the growing role of technology in strengthening sustainability reporting and encouraged organisations to prepare for the adoption of IFRS Sustainability Disclosure Standards ahead of mandatory implementation.
Stanbic Uganda Holdings Limited comprises Stanbic Bank Uganda Limited, SBG Securities Uganda Limited and Stanbic Business Incubator Limited.
