KAMPALA — Ugandan businessman and Ruparelia Group Chairman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has announced the launch of Paradise Island Resort, a 19-acre private island development on Lake Victoria designed to elevate the country’s luxury hospitality sector.

The resort is scheduled to welcome its first guests on 1 December 2026. Situated a 20-minute speedboat ride from Speke Resort Munyonyo, the development expands the Speke Group of Hotels portfolio and offers an exclusive eco-luxury retreat centered on privacy and natural scenery.

“I am delighted to announce the upcoming opening of Paradise Island Resort on 1st December 2026, a 19-acre private island retreat on the beautiful Lake Victoria,” said Dr. Ruparelia. “Designed to bring together luxury, nature and exceptional hospitality, this destination represents another milestone in our journey to elevate Uganda’s tourism potential.”

The island features 38 accommodation units built across two phases: 10 standard cottages, 11 cliffhanger cottages with panoramic lake views, 14 deluxe two-bedroom cottages, and three executive villas. The property caters to couples, families, leisure travelers, and corporate groups. On-site amenities include a 500-meter man-made beach, an infinity pool, fine-dining options, wellness facilities, and venue spaces for weddings and corporate retreats.

A key feature of the resort is its commitment to sustainability. Designed as a fully solar-powered eco-lodge, the island operates without diesel generators while preserving its indigenous vegetation and natural terrain.

Director Sheena Ruparelia noted that environmental preservation was central to the five-year build, which began in May 2021.

The resort joins the Ruparelia Group’s existing hospitality footprint, which includes Speke Resort Munyonyo, Speke Hotel, Kabira Country Club, Speke Apartments, Forest Cottages, and Dolphin Suites. The project aligns with broader efforts to diversify Uganda’s tourism appeal beyond traditional wildlife safaris and gorilla trekking, targeting premium leisure travelers, destination event organizers, and conference delegates.
