Super Falcons complete Senegal double with 3-0 win in second friendly

Nigeria’s Super Falcons continued their impressive preparations for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) with a commanding 3-0 victory over Senegal in their second international friendly at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Monday.

Just days after securing a 2-1 win in the first meeting, the nine-time African champions completed a dominant double-header against the Teranga Lionesses, finishing with a 5-1 aggregate score across both matches.

After a goalless first half in which Nigeria controlled possession and created the better opportunities, the breakthrough finally arrived four minutes into the second period.

Joy Omewa opened the scoring in the 49th minute, finishing off a well-worked move from close range

after being picked out by Shukurat Oladipo’s delivery.

The forward doubled Nigeria’s advantage seven minutes later, once again capitalising on another dangerous cross from Oladipo to put the Super Falcons firmly in control.

With Senegal struggling to cope with Nigeria’s attacking intensity, the hosts continued to press forward in search of more goals.

Their persistence paid off in the 66th minute when veteran striker Asisat Oshoala added a third. The former African Women’s Footballer of the Year calmly finished after being set up by captain Rasheedat Ajibade.

The visitors attempted to respond but found Chiamaka Nnadozie in inspired form. The goalkeeper produced key saves to preserve Nigeria’s clean sheet and cap another assured defensive display from Justine Madugu’s side.

The result follows Friday’s 2-1 victory in the first friendly and further underlines the Super Falcons’ readiness ahead of WAFCON 2026 in Morocco.

Madugu will be particularly encouraged by the team’s attacking sharpness, defensive organisation and growing cohesion as Nigeria intensify preparations for the continental tournament.

The Super Falcons, Africa’s most successful women’s national team with a record 10 titles, will head to Morocco aiming to reclaim continental supremacy and add another title to their illustrious history.
