A suspected cult member has died while allegedly trying to escape arrest, while another suspect was arrested following an alleged ambush and threat to life in Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The incident was contained in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.
According to the report, the incident occurred at about 1.20 pm on Sunday in the Kajola area of Ikenne.
The incident reportedly began after a resident identified as Anuolatoberu alerted the police that suspected cult members were threatening his life.
Following the complaint and intelligence gathered by the police, investigators reportedly established that the complainant had been ambushed by suspected cult members in the area.
“Police operatives were subsequently deployed to Kajola, where they arrested one of the suspects, identified as Oluwatimileyin Daniel.
“Other members of the alleged group reportedly fled the area when the police arrived.
“One of the fleeing suspects, identified as Damola, reportedly collapsed while attempting to escape arrest,” Makama added.
Makama further revealed that Damola was rushed to a hospital for medical attention but later died.
The death reportedly caused tension and confusion in the community, prompting security personnel to increase their presence in the area.
According to the report, the situation has since been brought under control, while police investigations continue.
