A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Anambra State, Ndubuisi Nwobu, has blasted the Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, for ordering that the First Niger Bridge be decorated with the pictures of President Bola Tinubu.
In a statement on Thursday, Nwobu described the move as sycophancy taken too far.
He questioned the idea of personally celebrating the President for the rehabilitation of public infrastructure, arguing that the funds used for the project belong to the Nigerian people.
DAILY POST recalls that Umahi had ordered that the pictures of President Tinubu would be pasted on the bridge upon completion.
Reacting, the ADC chieftain said decorating the bridge with Tinubu’s picture would not give the APC any political advantage.
According to him, Nigerians will vote for whoever they want on election day, noting that the government used money from the commonwealth to build the bridge.
“The Minister of Works’ directive for the First Niger Bridge to be decorated with President Tinubu’s photographs is sycophancy taken too far.
“The money used in the maintenance of the bridge is not Tinubu’s personal money. The money belongs to the entire citizens of this country,” he said.
