The coalition building initiative known as Team Gambia has announced the conclusion of a five-month nationwide consultation to build a broad national coalition ahead of the December 2026 presidential election.
The Standard has been reliably informed that co-coordinators Sidia Jatta and Halifa Sallah presented the final report on Saturday at a closed-door meeting at Paradise Suites Hotel.
According to the coordinators, the report captures views from a wide cross-section of Gambians including political parties, academics, civil society, trade unions, business leaders, professional bodies, faith leaders, and persons living with disabilities.
Key political figures including APP-Sobeyaa leader Essa Faal, NUP leader Lamin J Darboe and lawyer Assan Martin were among those who witnessed the presentation of the report.
Participants were reportedly given copies of the report and asked to submit feedback by Friday, 12th September.
Team Gambia declared that formal coalition building will commence on that same day during the next meeting of participants.
According to the coordinators, the consultation was not an exercise in talk, but a deliberate effort to forge unity and agree on a shared national agenda to reset The Gambia’s politics and governance.
