Terrorists suspected to be Fulani militias have killed the nephew of the National President of the Berom Youth Moulders-Association, BYM, Dalyop Solomon Mwantiri, in a targeted attack on Jol Community of Riyom Local Government Area of Plateau State.

Mwantiri, who confirmed the incident in a post on his Facebook page on Saturday, said his nephew was slaughtered by the terrorists just two months after his younger brother was assassinated in the same community.

Recall that the BYM President had escaped death during the attack that killed his brother, and at that time, there was speculation that he was the main target. The attack also claimed the life of the second-in-command of Operation Rainbow.

Mwantiri added that during the funeral service for the murdered youth, security alerts were raised when armed assailants later attempted to launch further attacks while mourners and community members gathered to bury the victim.

"My nephew was killed by Fulani militias in a targeted attack on Jol village in Riyom LGA," Mwantiri wrote.

"This came barely two months after my younger brother was also assassinated in the same village. That particular attack was targeted at me, but fortunately, I managed to escape, while my brother and the second-in-command of Operation Rainbow were killed.

"During the funeral service, we got a security alert that the same terrorists were planning to launch further attacks on mourners who had gathered to bury my nephew. But luckily, security operatives were on hand to forestall any further bloodshed," he narrated.
