They’ve stylishly returned fuel subsidy – Isaac Fayose alleges panic in Tinubu govt

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Nigerian businessman and social commentator, Prince Isaac Fayose, has alleged that President Bola Tinubu’s administration has quietly reintroduced fuel subsidy due to panic over the forthcoming presidential election.

Fayose made the allegation while reacting to the Federal Government’s recent decision to reduce the price of petrol sold to Nigerians by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL).

DAILY POST reports that the FG on Thursday announced a 30-day discount on petrol dispensed at NNPCL retail outlets as part of measures to cushion the impact of rising fuel prices on Nigerians.

The development has generated reactions, with some Nigerians alleging that the administration’s latest intervention was politically motivated and aimed at winning public support ahead of the election.

Reacting to the development, Fayose alleged that the discount may continue until after the election, stating that if President Bola Tinubu is re-elected, the economic hardship may double.

He said, “They have stylishly reintroduced fuel subsidy. They’re bringing it back for 30 days and I’m sure they will continue until after the election. Immediately after the election, they are going to double the pain.

“Why are you returning the fuel subsidy close to the election? All of a sudden, they are now feeling your pain, meanwhile, you have been crying for the past three years.

“It is very difficult to defend this government, they are nothing to write home about.”
