Nigerian singer Adokiye has attracted the attention of American music producer and music mogul Timbaland, becoming the first Nigerian artist reportedly recognised in connection with a $100,000 music competition in the United States.
The recognition comes shortly after Adokiye released her latest self-titled single, ADOKIYE, as she continues to build her profile through performances and music engagements in Nigeria and abroad.
Adokiye has taken an unconventional approach to promoting her music, performing directly for audiences in different locations. Her determination has seen her take her performances to the streets of the United Kingdom, where she has entertained passersby with her music.
One of her recent performances took place outside Euston Station in London. Without a microphone, speakers or other stage equipment, the singer performed at the top of her voice, drawing the attention of commuters and passersby.
Her performance earned applause from those who witnessed it, with the singer’s raw vocals and passion helping her connect with the audience.
The street performance has since become one of the notable moments in Adokiye’s current musical journey, coming at a time when her efforts are attracting attention beyond the UK.
Being noticed by Timbaland, one of the most influential producers in contemporary American music, marks another significant development for the Nigerian singer as she seeks to expand her reach internationally.
Adokiye’s selection for the $100,000 music competition in the United States could further expose her music to a wider audience and provide another platform for her to establish herself on the international stage.
