President Bola Tinubu has mourned former Delta State Governor Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, recalling his contributions to the state even after leaving office in 2015.
In a condolence message released on Monday, Tinubu said Uduaghan did not abandon public service after serving two terms as governor but continued to play a role in deepening democratic governance.
Uduaghan, who reportedly died at the age of 71, was governor of Delta State from 2007 to 2015.
Tinubu also recalled Uduaghan’s earlier service in the state, where he served as Commissioner for Health and later as Secretary to the State Government before becoming governor.
According to the President, Uduaghan’s eight years in office placed him at the heart of Delta State’s political and development history.
He noted that even after leaving office, the late governor remained an influential voice in Delta’s political and socio-economic affairs and contributed to strengthening democracy and public service in Nigeria.
Tinubu urged the people of Delta State to take solace in Uduaghan’s years of service and the relationships he built across the country.
“During this period, he pursued developmental strides to improve infrastructure, healthcare delivery, and the overall welfare of Deltans.
“At this difficult time, I urge the people of Delta State to draw strength from the late governor’s years of service and the enduring relationships he built across the political and social terrain of our country,” Tinubu said.
