President Bola Tinubu has nominated six executive directors for the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), seeking Senate confirmation for their appointments.
Three of the nominees are returning directors, while the other three are new appointments, according to a statement issued on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The nominees, if confirmed by the Senate, will serve five-year terms.
Those nominated for reappointment are Abiodun Adeniji as Executive Director, Finance and Accounts; Ogbugo Kalu Ukoha as Executive Director, Distribution Systems, Storage and Retailing Infrastructure; and Mustapha Lamorde as Executive Director, Health, Safety, Environment and Community.
The new nominees are Mobolaji Tajudeen Musa as Executive Director, Hydrocarbon Processing Plants, Installations and Transportation Infrastructure; Ogechukwu Modie as Executive Director, Economic Regulations and Strategic Planning; and Said Abutalib as Executive Director, Corporate Services and Administration.
Tinubu urged the Senate to consider the nominations promptly to ensure continuity in the Authority’s operations and strengthen its regulatory oversight.
The President also approved the appointment of Jumoke Gafar as Secretary to the Board/Authority and Legal Adviser, subject to the completion of the statutory requirements under Section 46 of the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA).
In April, Tinubu appointed Rabiu Abdullahi Umar as Chief Executive of the NMDPRA.
