Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in the state to mobilise support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid and other party candidates in the 2027 general elections.

Alia made the call on Monday in Makurdi during the inauguration of the ‘Alia for All, All for Alia Support Group’. He was represented at the event by the state APC chairman, Benjamin Omale.

Omale, speaking on behalf of the governor, highlighted the Tinubu administration’s achievements in healthcare, education, infrastructure and other sectors, insisting that the president deserved another term to consolidate his Renewed Hope agenda and continue the transformation of the country.

According to Omale, “Let’s continue to maintain peaceful political engagement as we continue to showcase the good work of this government. I encourage every one of you to have your voter’s card.”

Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of Otukpo Local Government Area, Maxwell Ogiri, who represented the group’s local government coordinators, urged members to extend their mobilisation efforts to communities, wards and polling units across the state.

He stressed the need to encourage eligible voters who had registered but were yet to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to do so ahead of the elections.

“Take this movement to local government areas, wards and polling units. Our priority is to encourage registered voters who are yet to collect their voter cards to collect them and vote during the elections.”

Ogiri said the group was prepared to establish a strong grassroots network to mobilise electoral support for Tinubu and Alia in 2027.

“As we look towards the 2027 elections, we look forward to mobilising the grassroots to vote for President Tinubu and Governor Alia. We are ready to work and take this structure to our communities and the grassroots. We will build a strong network in communities,” Ogiri said.

Meanwhile, the patron of the support group, retired Major General Lawrence Onoja, represented by his son, former Benue State Commissioner for Information, Lawrence Onoja Jr., called on members to put aside personal differences and work collectively towards the party’s success.

He urged them to avoid internal rivalry and maintain unity, stressing that a coordinated effort would be necessary to secure victories for the APC at all levels in the 2027 elections.
