“Tinubu’s Reforms Already Yielding Results” — Presidency Tackles Oppositions

The Presidency has defended President Bola Tinubu’s economic policies, insisting that Nigeria’s economy is making progress despite criticism from opposition politicians.

Temitope Ajayi, the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, made this known on Monday while reacting to a report indicating a significant increase in manufacturing jobs in 2025.

In a post on X, Ajayi accused opposition figures of portraying the economy negatively for political reasons, particularly as the country prepares for future elections.

He maintained that the impact of Tinubu’s economic reforms was becoming evident, pointing to rising employment figures as proof that the policies were beginning to yield results.

According to Ajayi, Nigeria’s manufacturing sector created 81,174 jobs in 2025, compared with 34,769 jobs recorded in 2024. This represents a 133.47 per cent increase in employment within the sector.

The report attributed the growth to a recovery in factory activities during the first half of 2025. Other contributing factors included a more stable exchange rate for imported raw materials and production inputs, improved business confidence, and increased exports of locally manufactured goods.

The figures were presented by Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director-General of the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN), at the association’s 54th Annual General Meeting in Lagos, according to BusinessDay.

Reacting to the development, Ajayi argued that the rising employment figures provided evidence that the administration’s economic reforms were having a positive impact.

He also criticised opposition politicians for focusing on the country’s economic challenges while, in his view, overlooking signs of improvement in key sectors.
