The Senator representing Enugu West at the 10th senate, Osita Ngwu is a very modest man.
And in his modesty, he presents himself as if he is also press shy despite that he knows what to say and very eloquent to say them.
Ngwu is one of the youngest Senators at the Godswill Akpabo led Red chamber.
He has also brought the youth connection into the Senate, respecting his elders and projecting his views without fear or favour.
FRED IWENJORA recently met up with Senator Ngwu at the burial of 101 year old Nne Okwukwe Mary Oriaku Onoh at Nsude, Enugu state.
When asked why he does not blow his trumpet as most politicians do, Senator Ngwu said “politics is all about service and not about personal promotion.
“The people know their Senator and their senator knows them very well.
“I believe that they are seeing our presence in quality representation across the entire Enugu west zone. So there may not be need for personal promotion. I need not count these human interest projects for you. I need not over emphasise on the educational grants and scholarship awards for Enugu west students or the sports development empowerment.
“From Awgu, to Oji River, Ezeagu, Udi, Umulungbe etc.
“We also have shown presence at Ngwo, Abor, Okpatu …all over Enugu West.
“I am not making any big efforts to campaign rather I am dissipating much energy in the delivery of dividends to Enugu west zone because I know my works will speak for me.
Senator Osita Ngwu, an engineer by profession then of the PDP won the Senate election in 2023.
Following the mass movement of Enugu into the APC, Ngwu is gunning for re-election.
Many are of the opinion that Ngwu who has led many senate committees including solid minerals and the Airforce and is also deputy chairman of the committee on drugs and narcotics is so well positioned to return to the senate come 2027.
