Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has, through her lawyers, warned bloggers, content creators and social media users to stop spreading what she describes as false and defamatory claims about her, or face legal action.
The cease-and-desist notice, signed by Tope Salami of Whitestone Solicitors and Consultancy, was dated Thursday, November 5, 2026, and shared by the actress on her social media pages the same day.
The lawyers said some “known persons” were taking cover under sponsored individuals to push malicious publications against the actress. They described the claims as “untrue, misleading, unsubstantiated, and capable of damaging her professional personality.” The notice did not name anyone or say what the allegations are.
It demanded that the public stop publishing, reposting or circulating the content on all platforms, and delete existing posts, videos, comments and other materials containing the claims. It also urged people not to create or amplify narratives meant to ridicule, harass or intimidate her or her business.
The lawyers said freedom of expression “does not confer an unrestricted permit to spread falsehoods.” They added that anyone who continues to spread the statements after receiving the notice “shall be held legally responsible for their actions.”
The notice also warned that relevant posts and materials may be preserved as evidence, and that it was issued without prejudice to the actress’ rights.
Toyin Abraham is one of Nollywood’s most prominent actresses and has previously taken legal steps over online attacks. The notice has sparked debate on social media, with some users asking who the “known persons” are.
No deadline for compliance was stated, and none of the parties has publicly responded at the time of this report.
