Transfer: Atletico Madrid set asking price for Ademola Lookman

Atlético Madrid is considering the possibility of letting go of Ademola Lookman just a few months after acquiring him from Atalanta.

The La Liga club has set an asking price of approximately €50 million for the Super Eagles forward, as reported by the Spanish transfer market website Fichajes.

The former African Footballer of the Year came to Spain with high expectations following a successful tenure in Italy, where he became one of Atalanta’s key attacking players.

Recognised for his speed, direct approach, and adaptability across the forward line, Lookman was seen as a valuable addition to Diego Simeone’s team, providing creativity and depth in the attacking phase.

Nevertheless, his integration into Simeone’s rigorous tactical framework has not progressed as smoothly as hoped.

The Atlético manager emphasises defensive discipline, off-the-ball work rate, and tactical organisation, areas in which Lookman has yet to fully impress.

During the latter half of last season, Lookman achieved 13 goal contributions (9 goals, 4 assists) in twenty-four matches across all competitions.

In light of the uncertainty regarding his future, he opted out of the Nigeria squad for the June international matches against Poland and Portugal.
