Transfer: ‘My medical went well’ – Ederson surprised over Man United’s decision

Daily Post about 2 hours 2 mins read

Brazilian midfielder, Ederson has said he successfully completed his medical at Manchester United before the club withdrew from the transfer agreement.

The Red Devils decided against proceeding with the transfer during the summer after subjecting the Brazilian to a medical examination during the FIFA World Cup.

In a media interaction, Ederson refuted claims that he failed his medical at Manchester United.

He said that neither he nor his representatives were informed of the reasons behind the club’s decision to abandon the transfer, but expressed his contentment at signing a new contract to remain with Atalanta.

As reported by Sportskeeda, via Yahoo, the Brazilian stated: “I honestly don’t know what transpired. I have always received interest from other clubs, and I could have joined another English team. The medical assessments were satisfactory, but I am uncertain about what occurred.

“I have been with Atalanta for four years and have consistently played. I could have waited to see how things unfolded, but my strong relationship with the club persuaded me to stay and sign a new contract.

“I am very pleased to continue with Atalanta, and I sincerely appreciate the club and Luca Percassi. They reached out to me multiple times, and I felt their support.

“Despite interest from other clubs, after everything that transpired, I believed it was best to remain with those who genuinely wanted me, which has always been Atalanta. I was delighted to wear the jersey that has brought me so much happiness.”

Ederson also expressed gratitude to Atalanta’s fans for their unwavering support and pledged to improve his performance.

The club’s director, Cristiano Giuntoli, remarked that the midfielder felt like a new acquisition for them, to which the Brazilian responded:

“I am grateful to the fans; they are always so passionate and stand by you through both good and challenging times. We won the Europa League and achieved significant results; they know me well. I do not consider myself a new signing; I have always been an Atalanta player.”

Manchester United had reached an agreement with Atalanta for a £35 million transfer for the midfielder.
