Troops arrest suspected car thief at Abuja checkpoint

Daily Post about 3 hours 1 mins read

Troops have arrested a suspected car thief at a checkpoint in Abuja, recovering a stolen vehicle during the operation.

The incident was disclosed in a post shared on X on Monday by security analyst Zagazola Makama.

According to the post, the suspect was intercepted around 11:53 am on Sunday at the Gwagwalada checkpoint in the Federal Capital Territory while driving the stolen vehicle.

“Troops of the 176 Guards Battalion under Operation MESA carried out the arrest as part of ongoing efforts to tackle crime within the FCT,” Makama wrote.

The suspect reportedly confessed during initial questioning, saying he took the vehicle after a disagreement with his employers and fled with it before heading to Abuja.

The report added that both the suspect and the recovered vehicle are now in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
