Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected illicit drug peddler in Kaduna State, foiled a terrorist attack, and rescued two kidnapped victims in Sokoto State.
The military disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday by the Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
According to the statement, the successes were recorded during separate operations conducted on September 12 and 13, 2026.
It said troops of Sector 1, while conducting a stop-and-search operation along the Kaduna–Birnin Gwari road on September 12, intercepted a suspect identified as Yohana Musa, who was allegedly in possession of a large quantity of illicit drugs and substances.
The suspect, who was travelling to Birnin Gwari, and the recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation, the statement said.
In a separate operation on September 13, The Troops of Sector 2 said they responded to a distress call following a terrorist attack at Unguwan Lalle in Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The troops engaged the terrorists with firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray, while rescuing two kidnapped victims, the statement added.
It further disclosed that acting on information about an attempt by the terrorists to regroup, the troops swiftly mobilised to the location, where they re-established contact with the assailants and engaged them in a fierce gun battle.
The terrorists were again forced to withdraw, while troops recovered 157 rounds of PKT ammunition, phone batteries and other items during exploitation of the area.
The Theatre Commander commended the troops for their gallantry and professionalism in sustaining the operational successes.
He reaffirmed the military’s resolve to deny terrorists and other criminal elements freedom of action across the Joint Operations Area.
The statement urged members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to security forces in support of ongoing operations.
